Professional Experience

Therapy Approach

Thank you for your interest in my services and for taking your time to find out more about what I do and who I am.

My approach in therapy is centered around building an authentic and open relationship with you, which I believe is integral to fostering trust. My style is warm, collaborative, flexible, direct and client-centered. I really enjoy the work I do and feel honored to work with my clients.

While you may be struggling at the moment, I approach my work with the underlying assumption that you are the expert on your own life. I use an integrative- strengths based approach in my work that is grounded in cultural humility, cultural responsiveness and social justice values. I understand that we may have different lived experiences in this world based on our different identities. I strive to acknowledge and affirm our differences as they impact our work and to genuinely attempt to understand your experience and your intersecting identities related to race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, education, social needs, and others.

All my work is trauma-informed. I draw from several evidenced-based modalities to help you meet your goals, and most of them are experiential, relational, emotionally focused and somatic by nature – specifically grounded in interpersonal, internal family systems, somatic-based, emotion focused theories and modalities. Mindfulness-based and mind-body practices to healing are woven into my work. I respect the role of cognitive-behavioral interventions as they help you achieve and make progress toward your goals.

Relevant work experience
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington. I was a core faculty member and Associate Professor at Bastyr University for seven years where I held the role of Clinical Training Director for the integrative Master of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Health Psychology program. In addition, I was a co-founder and co-director for the Center for Social Justice and Diversity at Bastyr University. I have done diversity and inclusion work with Executive Diversity Services, Inc. My specialty training focus in post doctoral residency work was in mind-body modalities for stress and wellness. Prior to my graduate training in psychology, I had a career in health care administration in Southern California.

I have experience working with trauma and health related issues and changes.
